It's terrifying.
It's like the world is collapsing on your lungs,
But you're still taking in air.
Yet at the same time, you're getting in enough air,
And it's getting rid of it that's the problem.
Hell.
That's panic attacks in one word.
And even though I've only ever had two,
I know that no one wants them.
I've never been more scared of my body
Than I was in those moments.
The worst part about the second one?
My mind wasn't panicked.
I was okay mentally,
But couldn't stop my body.
I had to put on a hoodie,
he pulled me over
because my hands shook so bad i swerved
left and right
drunk
on my panic attack
his badge flashed
like that earring He wore
the night He scarred my soul
the officer touched my hand to pull me out of it
to bring me back to reality
ma'am, are you okay? i'm here. take deep breaths.
i screamed so hard
other cars pulled over to help
because every hand feels the same
no matter their intentions
Life begins to count,
One, Two, Three,
Time begins to accelerate,
Four, Five, Six.
Thoughts in your head mount,
Seven, Eight, Nine,
A single phrase,
Ten, Eleven, Twelve.
Something inside snaps,
I lost count.
Small, weak breaths escape,
One, Four, Seven.
My words stop rhyming,
Two, Five, Eight,
Counting starts loosing shape,
Three, Six, Nine.
