morning comes out
in the best art
no ring to own or business
to busy up
Meet me in thin arms,
say it is only to sell me a trick
or a ring in the nose.
I know how true
rain would be.
To her leg in lace
her rings
her after-play
her heat
her full pear
her lost temple
her art
I see my way.
My window was infinite as a ring.
My head ached.
Sitting backwards, I heard a dove
speak with the day.
life is like a boxing match you can't seem to win,
you get so close.
you have your enemy pinned just for a second.
and then they pull a sneak attack,
wrapping you by the leg flipping you so you're back on the bottom once again.
i'm so tired of fighting.
exhausted of getting so close,
yet going nowhere.
so i gave my last fight my all,
and end up in the same position as every other time.
taking a deep breathe, inhaling all the sweat and tears from the fight
i let myself go.
i've surrendered to the ring.
Everyone's got
a ring around
the fourth finger
of
the left hand
I move to you
With my empty finger
And together we fill the earth
Our floor is bedrock
Our roof the volcanic sky all red
and molten
A ring around
A ring around
your belly
I make it with my arms
We make it with our bodies
You came from the Aztecs
With a copper on your fore-arms
Tawnier than a sunset
Saying good-by to an even river.
And I said, you remember,
Those fore-arms of yours
Were finer than bronzes
And you were glad.
It was tears
And a path west and a home-going when I asked
Why there were scars of worn gold
Where a man's ring was fixed once
On your third finger.
And I call you
To come back before the days are longer.
