By heart

Learn a poem by heart.

Stanza by stanza, with more words hidden as you remember more. And just as it starts to slip, the trainer reminds you to review it.

Find any poem and tap “Learn by heart”.

How the trainer works

1

Get to know it

Read a short summary, then read the poem aloud once, slowly.

2

Fill the gaps

Each stanza has three levels: a few words hidden, then most of them, then whole lines.

3

Come back

The trainer tells you when to review, just as the poem starts to fade. That's spaced repetition.

The Poemship trainer helps you learn a poem by heart in a few short sessions. You read the text stanza by stanza while the trainer gradually hides the words: first just a few, then almost all of them — until you can recite the whole poem from memory.

So that what you have learned does not fade, the trainer tells you when it is time to review a poem: spaced repetition fixes the text in long-term memory.

Memorizing poetry trains memory and attention, gives you new words and images, and builds confidence for performances and exams. Start with a short poem — the first session takes about ten minutes.
