"Moment Musical"

Louise Morey BowmanDreamy

Blue moth!... Tiny, pulsating thing ... You and I met upon a rocky hill. I paused ... You paused, and poised Blue, Blue on a dark stone: And all the vibrant sunshine in the world Was caught for the sparkle On your tiny wings ... Blue moth!

Summary

On a rocky hill, the speaker stops before a tiny blue moth. Both seem to pause, and for a moment the insect is all the speaker can see: a vivid blue shape resting on dark stone. The wonder comes from how something so small and fragile can seem to catch every bit of sunlight in its wings.
