I Promise To Remember
Not a day goes by when I don't remember you I remember when I was younger I questioned your scars I didn't know much But I knew at one point they must have hurt I remember when you were Santa, And I told everyone you weren't really him I caused so much trouble - and they all cried But you still took me in your arms As If I'd done nothing wrong I remember you teaching me to kick a football You were the only one who could. And the stories of the different footballers, You had said you helped with their sore muscles. I remember When I was losing on of my first teeth You showed me how it could wiggle And you told me how I'd leave it for the tooth fairy To recieve a small coin. I remember how you taught me to fish In your backyard catching leaves How we were meant to go on an adventure On that precious Island But a huge storm got in our way I remember when I first played an instrument I must have sounded terrible But all the same you told me I was wonderful And you couldn't be more proud. I remember when you visited me and told me how I'd grown. How every day I became prettier, Could be mistaken for the most beautiful rose. You'd tell me stories of the Girl I'd grow to be And how one day there'd be someone waiting on their knee's I remember all your support When we needed t most We never needed to cry for help Just like a superhero, you were on the go. I remember our last conversation, Quite short and sweet. It was Christmas Day and I had so much to tell. I remember wantting to come and see you In your very last days But being told to remember you In the nicest ways. So I promise that I'll keep each memory clear, And tell everyone about the hero you were. I promise to do my best to become the girl you thought I'd be And I promise to remember, that you've always watched over me.
