Somnium

A flutter of my eyes As I lay down my head

Off goes the light And I'm lying in bed

To sleep, to sleep I must go at last

The time to wake Has long since been passed

Yet I do not go My mind's in a race

My body's on earth, My thoughts are in space

Wond'ring my purpose And who I'll be

A dream, a dream Is all I see

Safe under the sheets My heart's at rest

My breathing's heavy Lifting my chest

The walls fade As my eyes slide closed

I curl up tight In my nightly pose

In time, in time Day will arrive

I won't notice As my dreams will thrive

It matters not What time has passed

I sleep, I sleep I sleep at last
