Andrew HamlinContemplative

Tiny the child, sunscreen smooth on his cheeks like clown white

Grateful, at last, at (farting my way through Thursday) …enforced hermitude

Like a taffy pull, bumblebee clung to one side of the clover

How forlorn, the truck’s rumble without the truck

Imagination disconnected, I tune in to the night

Profundities, the faintest of echoes… concrete garage

Too tired to care whether moths go condo in that damn bathroom

Chilly July… fresh-shaven cheeks against my robe’s collar

The dog finished its days, panting in the hay

They’re cheering for…what… being alive after all? (I stay upstairs)

Robert De Niro lets everything ride on an eyelid twitch

As the dog is in the early morn, so too my own panting

Refrigerator cools, what I want it to– Yet I insist, more!

No breeze– door one-quarter open… two sandals

Twin flies over chicken Caesar– deaf to argument

Crows have opinions– fine, but must they menace fragile music?

The woodman’s hat catches only one falling star

Today only, black man on a black bike… northward

Afraid to put on Bill Evans… so many depths
