Haiku 66

Andrew HamlinContemplative

Summer sets… stuffed red wagon left at the curb

Summer sets… toddlers churn through the wading pool

Summer sets… sweat on my left wrist dries faster than my right

Summer sets… fire truck howls like a hollow tooth

From a sunken throne, potentate breathes in bubbles

Reticence fouled by the waters of love… blood incidental

Truck horn, punctuation for no sentence

Summer sets… I clamp suspenders to my long pants

Nobody knows… my nail fungus detente

Summer sets… sunburned earlobes scratch the pillow

Summer sets… little boy bows to landing ducks

…no longer time enough left to watch all the films he wants

Summer sets… my watch band, cracked ancient

Summer sets… dog’s ball rolls alone

Summer sets… ball-peen hammer wedged in the chicken coop
