Hole truth

I dig a pit in the garden and lay in it

things happen within me and without me

I write to the night but receive no answer all day

how horrid the sky looks in a hole

as near to the ground as nothing could go

Erasure poem derived from The Diary of Samuel Pepys, Tuesday 4 September 1666.
