In the Dark
Late at night, when you’re fast asleep, Shadows crawl and nightmares creep, In the morning when you wake, You will know the forms panic can take, The monsters never stay in the closet, Life can never be simple can it? No, life will never be simple, learn to live, Try not to fall for the lines fear will give, One day, one day, this all will end, I hope you make it 'til then.
When the lights go out, The monsters shout, With glee inside my head, They fight and shriek inside my mind, To make me think, to make me cry, that I would rather be dead, The cannot win, they will not win, I don't want to be dead, That cannot be how this ends.
Make it stop, make this stop, I can’t let him win, I won’t be done in, I cannot eat, I dare not sleep, Alone inside my bed I weep, I cry for the help that never came, I can’t give these thoughts voice, That none of this was my choice, I’m sick of the shock, tired of hearing “what a shame”, It’s not a shame, I’m not a shame! You never came! Why was I alone? Why am I alone? I can’t do this on my own, Where were you?
Where were you? Where were you? Why couldn’t you see? Why couldn’t I tell? I want to remember, why I couldn’t trust you, I want to know why I thought you wouldn’t protect us, I’m scared to remember, I still don’t trust you, Not to fall apart on us.
