Jake NewlandRomantic

Late at night She and I Lay out our desires- The base intentions Overflow our lips and spill into wine glasses Broken glass lead the way For where we travel Is not for the casual observer Not for lesser people Nor lesser purposes- Purposeful chiming alerts us to the yawning gap ahead A winding path Never straight Always bent around the idea that somehow It is possible to traverse Even the most lopsided of terrain Reminding us that circular roads never come to a close Breaking in to shout that wrapped arms make a loop From which we tie ourselves to one another- She and I Late at night Performing through the whispers of dreamless sleep Speak nothing but the naked truth Nothing but the vulnerable realism of our splayed open lives.
