Pretences
If you ask me how I am And I say that I'm fine I'd only be delivering a well-practiced line My smile would be fake And it wouldn't reach my eyes Yet you'll be assured By my fluidly spoken lies You would look no further And happily believe That I was content, Had no reason to grieve Thus I would be safe Tucked behind my armour, my disguise And would be vulnerable to none But come, at what price?
