Shell of Lies

I am the one Who grins and lies. The truth I keep Pent up inside. Outside, I am A piece of glass. Hard edges, Sharp edges; They're not perfect. But inside, I'm a cloud. Soft center, Smooth edges. The piece of glass Which I show the world Someday Is sure to break me, The real me. And if this happens, I shall be left With nothing. No soul, No heart, No life. Just a drifting, Floating shell. Dried up, No one will notice. No one will care Because the shell Is all they saw When I had a life Before the shell broke me. When the truth is gone, All that will be left Is lies. But no one will notice That there is no truth Because when there was one, I hid it In this shell of lies.
