A Promise Unfulfillrd

Like an experience un-had A game unplayed A promise unfulfilled, Like a person un-met A friendship un-created A dinner uneaten A book unread, Like a story unwritten A language unlearned A house un-built And un-lived in: Like those songs you never listened to Because you never got the chance Like the day you stayed in bed When you could have done So many other things; All these things Like a life un-lived All those words unsaid Memories unmade The person we all un-met: His story will remain untold His dreams un-acheived And unknowable He is a promise unfulfilled A life un-lived.
