Max ReifCheerful

This morning, for the first time since high school

I’m sitting in the sun without my shirt, reading and writing at a table on our porch.

The breeze and light felt so good

I wanted more contact, and without thinking reached back and peeled it off.

Only then did it occur to me: “The last time you did this, you were seventeen!”

Things started speeding up then,

and it’s taken this long for them to start

slowing down.

Ahhhhh.
