I only have one request That we remember who we were Our perception was blurred Our subconscious could see clearly That there was nothing left

Our walls came tumbling down Our hearts slid to our sleeves It felt as though the ground had parted from our feet In this moment we were left utterly weightless The safety we had been searching for was found

We created a home within our hearts The only flaw are our faulty keys for we never keep them attached to you or me They dissolved within our bloodstream We promised to stay this way when reality restarts

Slowly as the sun comes up we are pulled back behind our guarded gates It felt as though there were seas we crossed Those seas transmute to poisoned lakes We hide from the pain, our souls numb

Remembrance of my request slowly fades Maybe who we were isn't who we are We want to allow love When we're sober, love is hard Yet, recollection of our connection vaguely intoxicates
