Distancing

The Clothes I wore While learning to run in my grandma's yard never ceased to fit me.

Perhaps for my mother, between the wet socks or food about to be served lies the intention to return to the street and find her best acquaintances.

It's possible to still find myself waiting in a grad night, a theater play, a celebration or collecting a raffle with her name.

We may never understand the reason she awaits at the door. Sometimes looking through the crack and at times hoping we catch the dog that ran out to the street, not knowing how to turn the corner nor understanding how fortunate it can be.
