Sleepless Night

Sleepless night in a townsville A clock ticking in the deep gloom A soul trapped in a dark room Sleepless and deathly still Not a star astride the sky Not a whisper among the trees A tumbler drained to the lees And the last ghost of a sigh A soft rustle of the curtain A flickering of the street light Echoing still of an aborted flight And down came the rain.
