Sleep

Waking life is virtual predation. Sleep is the revenge of the prey on the predator.

René Thom

Sleeps come to the feeder and feeds him with dreams. This life is halved while he digests those efforts to gather and to grow or become the grave. While he sleeps, in dreams, the missed mark returns like a forgotten humour. Like the dark spirit eyes of his forefathers watching his undoing; like his hungers that hunger forgot; missed matings, mismatings of meat and mind, and moments when, in the heat, the ripe stuff rotted or the seed dessicated.
