Out Of Reach

sunlight pours through the window and its bent blinds, stabbing at my eyes until they're filled with swirls of red and orange. the birds try their best to make blood pool from my ears. No, I don't want to leave! Please don't wake me up. the world i've created, painstakingly crafted, dulls. their voices are muddled as reality punches me in the gut. What did they look like again? a kaleidoscope dances behind my eyelids and i pull the covers over my head. We were at the beach. No, the park. And they were saying... but then the dream disintegrates and floats away in the wind. it's all lost. there's barely a footprint left to haunt my every memory. "I had this dream earlier."

Catch the Train

Carve a new path, the voice whispers. Wander without a destination for eternity. Change your name, looks, personality, likes and dislikes. Become someone new and forget. the voice gets stronger with each passing day; it builds up and up, fills my heart and bones like the beat of a drum rattling the floor. it sings to my soul with honeyed words like the moonlight creeping through the window Never come back to the same place twice, the voice whispers. Never be that girl again.

Phoenix

my bones, charred and brittle, scream underneath my weight. dark. it's so dark in here. my heart, licked by the sudden flames, threatens to burst. ashes fill my shriveled lungs. my skin, branded for all to see, itches and burns. water. i need water. please. help me.
