ravens
climbing into
each other’s sky
circling crying
out
above the road bank where
the hepatica has just come into bloom,
the corpse of a porcupine
carrion beetles clamber
through the quills
butterflies cluster on what’s left of its mouth
a hole spanned by the long, curved
railings of its teeth
& down below, the pale blue blossoms
swaying on their stems
"Trust me"
He says into the night
Trust?
Trust is such an odd concept
It can take longer then you'd ever believe to attain
And it can vanish in one moment.
Misplaced trust can lead to broken souls
And heart wrench.
In the first blossom of youth
It can be given away freely
And given back just as quickly.
Lives can depend on it.
It can be very slippery in your hands,
And there is no real reason for it.
So, will I trust him?
"Yes"
Anniversary…
their teeth can now kiss
without their mouths
Such language,
the battered can
rolling north
The horse
and the spider,
either side of the field
My thumb against
the heel of my other hand…
slowed pulse
I’m risky,
rain on my stubble
and breath
One broken blade
The downtown beggar
died last week; a reminder
to cherish mint leaves.
Regular waves in
successive spikes, a thin stream
ending at the drain.
Car horn from below,
“Shave and a haircut, six bits,”
staccato, then out.
Light at my old work
goes out, the very instant
my night bus rolls past.
3:05 pm,
crescent moon, halfway hidden,
scudding eastward clouds.
Spring blossoms fallen,
What is this concrete,
such gravel, steel, that rebar
against the dead stars?
Small plane overhead
and a worn van’s chittering
usher out the sun
Empty ice-cream pint
in this, I’ve cultivated
exactly one ant.
Atop dinosaurs
we prance; who can say what, shall
caper over us?
Just gone to purple
the upper sky through my blinds
pale blue over West.
I begin putting
Why did you pick me?
knowing that you would
later on struggle to take care
of me the same way i took care
of you.
No matter how many times
i told you,
you never bothered to dehead me
the same way that i deheaded you,
so that i can, like you, maintain
my appearance
and blossom.
Yea! Yea! HAVE I FORGOTTEN BEAUTY?
The five petalled white cherry blossom
tinged with pink -- and the yellow stamen?
NAY:
I have become engrossed
with thy perfect body!
The length of your legs.
The solidity of your thighs.
The brightness of your eyes.
Your fingers. Hands.

Faint scent of pussywillows
Stirring up dirt
I throw my leg
Over the motorcycle
And hang on
Down grizzly peak we hit air
pockets of plum blossom and pine
Henry turns back and shouts to me
I shout yes I shout yes
'cause I didn't hear him
My leg stinging with wind
Where I burned it on tailpipe.
i fear to lose these sakura coloured
breathtaking sights i have grown to
love so much, the pink gleam of the world
twinkling as morning dew on the fresh
budding branches under the amber sunset,
crinkling their little noses upturned in the
fresh scent of your detergent and the faint
waft of my floral perfume. perhaps i dont want
this moment to end, for one day i know
i shall fall short of the huge dream i have created
just for myself, a lone daisy in the field on a
stormy night, sakura petals torn from their
branches in the violent graze of the feeling
of being cut off, wistfully fading in the grey white
reflection of the overly large crescent moon.

What season

is not swift?
He watched the leaf drop beneath the horizon and gently
light on the ground. He watched as it became a memory,
lingering there in the blooming sunrise.
one step closer
to revelation ...
a cherry tree blossoms
An old tree hangs over our dirt driveway so that it brushes our car as we drive past. Last year,
our first year in this country house, I admired its blooming. This year the gardener says it is
leaning because some of its roots have worn away.
