I look at the scenery on the bus everyday
It's the same trees
The same grass
The same guardrails and sheep out in the paddock
But today I looked up
For the first time ever I looked up,
and instead of watching the repeated landscape
I saw beautiful clouds
Changing and moving
And I felt peace
When I awake in the morning,
Whether the skies be clear or clouded,
A smile comes across my face,
As I hope to be a ray of sunshine to others,
Helping an elderly woman with groceries,
A blind man reach his destination,
A friend in need,
A child find his parents,
Never expecting the kind gestures,
Speech minimal in response,
Uncertain of what to do,
The lone word emanating from their mouths is thanks,
Not expecting anything in return,
I still cling to hope,
That another voluntarily does similar for me,
Reaching out without my asking,
Like a bird in the sky
Like rain falling from a cloud
I am falling.
I fall as fast as I can
My arms and legs tucked in
I soar like an eagle
As I fall through the sky
When I pull the rip cord
I fall a lot slower
When I touch the ground
I know I am safe
And ready to do it
Again...
I'm complacent.
stuck in the same spot.
never growing. never progressing.
cornered.
All of the walls i've built as protection are slowly crumbling,
Like they were never there in the first place.
i scramble to put the pieces of my life back together
but it's no use.
shattered.
everything i thought i knew went up in a cloud of smoke.
now polluting the earth.
my grey cloud is now yours.
I love you in the way that
people still stargaze
on cloudy nights
My reflection in the clouds
Chinese drunken poets desire.
No clouds today
a sky as clear as gin
to swim or drown in
the river takes this bend
goes where air and water
don't meet as friends.
Allegro assaiI have often thought of this music
in certain ways:
That its means
are what it means,
and no one
should ask more.
The tools incised it
intaglio
on a whole century---
fused
Style Galante into
the blood of a man---
to raise it
height and breadth,
and of which
one says singly:
That the neighborhood might be covered
by one roof, occured
this morning, Snow on the ground
phonepoles, flagpoles,
windows, so many chimneys,
even up the hill
grass smoking out west
the tides, clouds from the past
vanishing rain
the base.
beaten out,
death when you don't want it what you like
is a plain object
the long-trunked clouds
a weltered event
shale fish broken off
vine spread
on that wall
invisible years birds
fly
the earth need
motion
a dial of wind forms
roars a little some cat
wavering
or fitful reflection
branches through rain
from a lightening sky
the clouds parade
no army
there is no time
no vision that presses
There is a cloud
that shines a color alien to clouds,
and nights are darker than they were.
Blood I have shed
is powder on my memory.
I break on these immortal, broken stones,
and terror's dying haunts my metaphors.
Everybody I have known
is one man waiting on a half-imagined corner
for an unfamiliar face that he has loved.
The color of that cloud is named Goodbye,
for it is raining, shadows, everywhere.
The days have grown as delicate as bones.
The loneliest god in the universe
is walking, and his every word
is possibly goodbye on busy corners.
Head stuck
In a pretty rain cloud
For too long
Raindrops race down my cheeks
It's time to leave
Finally free, I look around
Iced leaves, bursting buds
Crystal shards of ice untouched
Sun rays hit branches
Mind vacant
The sun shines on
Rays reflecting in the pond
Bees bumble by swaying swans
Swallows swoop by bursting butterflies
Clouds cluster
A wolf wound up the twisted slope,
Its hide gleaming silver and eyes like to sun,
The farther it got the closer it seemed.
Upon reaching the top the beast stood still,
Clouds black as the night's fresh veil,
The mountain it climbed had looked taller before,
But the wolf lost foot as a piece did fall,
And it tumbled head over tail.
Battered and bruised but very much alive,
The peak of the mountain reached above the clouds,
And again the wolf climbed the beaten trail,
For this was all it knew.
