Oh, bend your eyes, nor send your glance about.
Oh, watch your feet, nor stray beyond the kerb.
Oh, bind your heart lest it find secrets out.
For thus no punishment
Of magic shall disturb
Your very great content.
Oh, shut your lips to words that are forbidden.
Oh, throw away your sword, nor think to fight.
Seek not the best, the best is better hidden.
Thus need you have no fear,
No terrible delight
Shall cross your path, my dear.
Call no man foe, but never love a stranger.
Build up no plan, nor any star pursue.
Go forth with crowds; in loneliness is danger.
Thus nothing God can send,
a pleasant day is worth little
to the lords of chance
that great crowd
like lousy hair dressed in feathers
hanging one another’s heads
and laughing to see a wart a red eye
no beauty left to look upon
and no other mirth
all morning in my mind with no compass
I turn towards the world
going on a delicate stone horse
to see the stone faces of the crowd
I hear lies enough
to make any man sick
the oddest present
would be a pound of candles for God
in a dead hour they take abuse
for their entertainment
a gentleman must lie
his mouth itching to bite
and the ways so full of people
present a great stomach
the life of a mole
this crowding and waiting
where light is dull
and we take
pleasure in ink
In the heat and the throng,
the call of stupefaction.
For hours we were out.
I endeavored to move, but not now
that I am in bed.
In the ear, rain
like a great throng
that could pass for unseen diaries,
my mind a foreigner
troubled by rogue citizens.
they renounce the brother nobody knows
lock the doors to heaven
I believe in the crowd
but the crowd remains unsatisfied
with our imperfect desires
I walk on my bread and cheese
a careful fly
as though through clouds
i see you blurred
in a big crowd
all my words slurred
he shouted my name through the crowd
eyes dark with concern
and it jutted through the air like a shard of ice
cutting my raw skin open
so blood poured from my wounds
and dotted the ground
as i shivered
There the clock has no hands, no hands,
Yet the time still turns.
I didn't have no plans, no plans,
But the heart still yearns.
Down on one knee, but the church bells stopped their tolling.
Slip on the ring, but the birds've stopped their singing.
Don't you hate me, don't you hate me darling?
She's a scarecrow, but I can't stop how close I'm getting.
There the sky has no clouds, no clouds,
But the light still dies.
Here there's no crowd, no crowd,
Yet I can still feel their eyes.
Hear that sweet song, but there's nobody out dancing.
Turn up the heat, but there's nobody out moving.
Don't you hate me, don't you hate me darling?
She's a sideshow, but I can't stop how much I'm watching.
Big creatures.
With smaller eyes.
Solid creatures.
With see-through eyes.
Cold creatures.
And happy eyes.
Warm creatures.
Dead eyes.
Silent creatures
Stern eyes.
Fuzzy creatures,
murky eyes.
Crowdy creatures,
Enlightened eyes.
Hollow creatures.
souless eyes.
