like news of peace
the land so promising in spring
is sick and wounded with oil
getting money
we hope to get thin
go home hungry to be
the mad will render
a great green whale
into oil
the tongue of a whale
comes to dance
late and weary
we pay in good oil
for the visions they sell to us:
I now know
how blind I am
my thoughts are small and labor
against the night
lock into order in order to war
go after tar and oil
eat money
change into lead
O pain of my pain
I live in black,
the color of oil:
oy! I was sick
and oy! I was well,
found but missed
all places here
with letters from home
to home.
Eyes closed, I lie on my back
Following their arms mentally
As the masseurs run their fingers
Pressing, squeezing, rubbing in
The warm oil all over me.
From the sole of my feet, up
Through the ankles, calves, knees
And thighs, passing deftly
My privates and up to the torso
My hairy, broad chest, shoulders
And the nape of my neck.
The loincloth barely leaves me clothed.
As the masseur's fingers and then the pouch
Filled with medicinal leaves soaked in starchy fluid
Spread warmth all over me,
I wonder if I might get an erection;
To my small
electric pump
To sense
and sound
this world
look to
your snifter
valve
take oil
and hum
