alder
at the water
down where I had not been
since the place has grown natural
a bit of rainbow
maimed as a dead leg
The sun comes out
in the middle of a shower,
too high for a rainbow—
unless you imagine
the bird’s-eye view:
rainbow against the ground
and off to the side,
the radiant field lines
of this magnet, Earth…
That pink sweatpants has never been good in my eyes.
And those turquoise nails have always looked strange.
It all changed when you made up a combination of colours.
A colour bomb, a rainbow, walking perfectly through the room, looking like a piece of minimalist art.
Love is like a many-coloured rainbow.
Many more shades, many more hues,
Than the sky could ever paint.
In one end of the spectrum is the love of self
The other end eyes never ever can reach.
Each shade, each tinge, each glint of light
Gleams for each that gave me their love.
But, my love, do not ask me how I glow for you.
And ask for whom else I do
And whether it shines brighter for you.
Do not, please, compare
Do not, please, ask if I love you more.
As the light of my love falls on your beautiful face
Drawing light into you like a prism
Instead of scattering, you converge
Me into a single beam of light
The field and I had cut our hair
last afternoon.
We had a shower by rain
last night.
Today, the field was woken up
by a kiss of the rainbow
Me, by my mother’s
phone call.
The ancient song of my heart
Comes and goes in Life's light.
Sudden, a glow, a rainbow.
Draws its line across the breast of my soul.
The going of the glade-boat
Is like water flowing;
Like water flowing
Through the green saw-grass,
Under the rainbows;
Under the rainbows
That are like birds,
Turning, bedizened,
While the wind still whistles
As kildeer do,
When they rise
At the red turban
Of the boatman.
Round appearing,
Illuminant fire,
Built in space,
Shedding heat,
Traveling westward ;
Your photosphere
Conflicts
With dwindling light
Of stricken day,
At dying hour.
Emerging from
The reek appears
At distant edge of earth,
A straightened rainbow
Reaching far into the sky-
You are an artist, Sun!
The moon spreads a rainbow fan
With her beams, and the cloud
Puts on it one star . . .
A song within a dream.
What moon-maid after dance,
On what balcony standing,
Cools her face with this fan,
The star holding a mirror to her eyes?
Why is there healing in her love?
Her mind is clear as streams that flow
Down rock-steps to a vale below,
Bearing on spray the Sun's bright bow.
And singing as they move.
What is a rainbow ?
Have I not seen its colours and its shape
Duplicated in the melon slices
Lying beside an empty cart ?
