Twisting and turning
Speeding and slowing
Through the labyrinth of streets
Braving the noise, the crowds
Boxed in by tall buildings
The bike rushes as if to escape-
Suffocated, nearly strangled.
It climbs a flyover
Higher, over the lowly lot
A blooming Gulmohar
By the side, smiling
And then – a patch of sky –
Bright, white
And farther, a deep blue.
It was dusk outside; inside the long hall
Dinner was set; candles lit.
Away, from the end of the corridor
Twilight fell softly across the floor.
At the other end, a door opened
To a patch of sky and a green-capped tree.
In the hall, alone at the table, I sat
Staring at the food I really didn’t see.
I didn’t hear him first; maybe I sensed –
What was he after, inside a house?
Silently he had entered from the garden
Perhaps a gust of wind swept him in.
A little sparrow, fluttering his wings,
He skitters, flies up and down, zigzag.
He almost hit the ceiling, and he didn’t -
He tried to escape but the windows were closed.
We were hidden in small umbrella
The rain was touching ous
The wind was pulling our
Umbrella
We hold the umbrella
Bought it near ous
We both got near each other
We looked at our face
And the rain stopped
The red orange sky
When the sun set had a while
We just found
Eachother in an
Dark red umbrella
Being flawed,
It's only human.
So alien are those,
Who have no compassion.
Commands should be followed,
Because of respect.
Not a deep fear,
Of becoming a reject.
Fairytales end,
With a happy pair.
But all hearts will,
Continously shed tears.
Endings can never,
Truly come.
Until I'm below ground,
And life's finally done.
Together we were rockets and roller coasters,
We spiraled and loop-de-looped into space,
Where the sky was the color of octopus ink,
And Earth was so small, so insignificant,
Compared to us both.
Together we were jesters and jokers,
We laughed and drank too much liquor
Too much that we sleep through ringing
Of our reverberating thoughts,
And woke up content.
Together we were dancers and dreamers,
Our hearts beating to the same soothing breeze.
We fantasized under the old oak tree,
Where the stars blossomed and sent promises,
Of forever and always.
Together we were happy,
My old enemy,
Grown his thick bushy red beard
In the five years since.
String of white tinsel,
Strung between two thin branches
Bowing to the breeze
Her naked bottom
Visible in a white flash
Gone to thunder now.
Electric fan blast
Cave-cold in my left armpit
DVD skipping.
I watch the traffic
Or, did, until tall condos
Replaced the yoga barn
How strange, to have come
There the clock has no hands, no hands,
Yet the time still turns.
I didn't have no plans, no plans,
But the heart still yearns.
Down on one knee, but the church bells stopped their tolling.
Slip on the ring, but the birds've stopped their singing.
Don't you hate me, don't you hate me darling?
She's a scarecrow, but I can't stop how close I'm getting.
There the sky has no clouds, no clouds,
But the light still dies.
Here there's no crowd, no crowd,
Yet I can still feel their eyes.
Hear that sweet song, but there's nobody out dancing.
Turn up the heat, but there's nobody out moving.
Don't you hate me, don't you hate me darling?
She's a sideshow, but I can't stop how much I'm watching.
Watching silently
Staring at the moon
It's a shadowy light
Under which they swoon
A call erupts forth
Bouncing 'cross the world
Sweeping through empty streets
Around houses does it whirl
But nobody came
It fell hard on deafened ears
Despite the endless quiet
No one ever hears
So there's the moon, see how she flies
Across the sky that night
That hollow moon, so red and seething
For none will hear her plight
I look out my window to see the stars shining bright
The constant twinkling in the sky my very own lullaby
So I close my eyes but can not sleep for the stars would haunt my dreams
Now I glance out my window pane and hope they'll come to me
Because stars are the only friends I have that will never leave
And I can depend on them to brighten up the dark
I can also tell them secrets hidden deep within my heart
Star's the only thing I know that will never stray
Star's how I want them to be here with me in day
Star's I love how they can never bring me pain
So I wish upon a star to come take me away
To take me from this wicked world and all its wicked ways
The stars could come and take me
Clouds,
Wish I was you,
Can enjoy every second of the scenery,
Free to go anywhere,
No one asks why or scolds you,
They even praises you for your beauty,
Wish I was you.
Where you live, be it
By the side of the sea,
Or atop a mountain peak-
Both, though a fantasy
For most of us -
Where you live, be it
Cocooned in a cramped
Quarters or be it
a claustrophobic
One bhk -
Or like me
In an old crumbling
Dwelling about to fall apart-
Wherever be that you live
Or rot-
It would be good
To define is to confine
To define is to be finite
To finally shut the windows
To firmly shut others out.
To define is not to look at the sky
To define is to end the quest
To define would be
To defeat yourselves
To rob yourselves of the infinity that was promised...
