Starlings land
above me, greater
than my aches,
and mew.
The first sphere of wire
through heat of the sun
drank a star.
In his silk cloak, the chairman made
the rest of the day a bed.
Along the wires
That connect my laptop to the mutiple pins
That connect my mobile to its charger
That connect the speakers to its charger
That connect my camera to its charger -
Wires, looped, coiled, twisted, splayed like intestines pulled out -
Along the wires walks an ant.
It could be walking (?) through an unending maze
Entrance and exit confused
A path directionless, destination-less .
What is the ant looking for - food, I presume
Though I would like to fantasize
That the ant is searching for -
Meaning of life? Ho ho ho!
Through the haze of smoke that drifts up from the cigarette
I try to look at the way I am going, the whys and wheres of it.
I was made from moving parts
Bolts and wires and such
There were no daisies and sweet smells
In my creation
as I was made from harsh reality's that were yet to be discovered
They built me from the oppression that minority's had faced
But filled me with the privilege that some were lucky to receive
My head was compiled of knowledge
only based on the things
they thought would fulfill their darkest desires
I was taught to hide myself live alone in my misery
I was a creation built for their pleasure
without
a mind of my own Unloved
uncaring without a home but I was a creation
When we talk on the
telephone, we feel our
loss more heavily.
i stare at the
slits, the box that
sells her voice to
me.
i hold the phone
like a live thing, like
part of her. it holds
a sound i love.
yet i hate the
upright coffin, its
pimply walls,
the printed admonitions
lining it, for being
Once on the kind of day called ‘weather breeder,’
When the heat slowly hazes and the sun
By its own power seems to be undone,
I was half boring through, half climbing through
A swamp of cedar. Choked with oil of cedar
And scurf of plants, and weary and over-heated,
And sorry I ever left the road I knew,
I paused and rested on a sort of hook
That had me by the coat as good as seated,
And since there was no other way to look,
Looked up toward heaven, and there against the blue,
Stood over me a resurrected tree,
A tree that had been down and raised again--
A barkless spectre. He had halted too,
As if for fear of treading upon me.
I saw the strange position of his hands--
Sun warms the wings
after flying near the jail
crimson razor wire.
The Rocky Mountain blue-bird
Is a point of blue fire ;
The meadow-lark
Sings above the hum
Of the telephone wire.
Straight and gaunt
The poles stand;
They walk stiffly
Over a thousand leagues
Of rough land.
