For authors

How to start

  1. Sign up and confirm your email.
  2. Create an author profile: name, the language you write in, and optionally a short bio, country, and link. When creating it, you accept the rules and promise to publish only your own poems, written without AI.
  3. Click "Write a poem" in the account menu.

Poem form

  • Required: language (detected from the text, correct it if wrong), the author profile the poem is published under, poem text (up to 15,000 characters).
  • Optional: title (up to 100 characters), epigraph and its author, dedication, notes (shown below the poem, up to 3,000 characters), date of creation.
  • Please include: mood (one) and keywords (up to five). Readers use them to find poems.
  • Authorship confirmation. When you add a poem or change its text, you tick that you wrote it yourself, without AI.

If you submit a poem to the library, the form must meet the library rules.

Who can see the poem

  • "For members" (default). The poem is not part of the library and is hidden from search engines. Anyone with the link can read it, it is visible on your profile and author pages, and site members see it in general lists and search.
  • "Only me". The poem is visible only to you.
  • Library. A poem you submitted and we accepted is open to everyone. More details below.

You can change this mode at any time. A library poem switched to "Only me" leaves the library.

Member profile

Your member page: username, name, "About me" (up to 1,000 characters), avatar, social links, and your poems, except those set to "Only me". The page is open via a link and hidden from search engines. You can edit it in Settings.

Author profile

  • Poems are published under an author profile, with your real name or a pen name. You can have up to five profiles, for example, one for each language you write in. Change them or add one in Settings, under Author profiles.
  • Each profile has its own author page: name, short bio (up to 300 characters), and poems.
  • The author page is open to everyone via a link. It appears in the author list for readers without an account and in search engines once at least one of your poems is accepted into the library.
  • If your name is already on the site, click "This is me" and submit a request. Once reviewed, the name will appear among your author profiles.
  • You cannot take a name that another member is already publishing under.

The library

  • To submit a poem, click "Submit to the library" on its page and accept the library terms. You need a confirmed email.
  • What poems we accept, how review works, and what to do after a rejection are in the library rules for authors.

After acceptance

  • The poem is open to everyone, including readers without an account. People find it by mood and keywords, in site search, and on the author page. It can be featured in themed collections and on the home page.
  • Search engines can see it.
  • Over time, it appears in Smart Search, where readers look for poems by describing a feeling or situation.
  • It appears in our apps Poems by Mood and Learn Poems.
  • We may create materials for readers: a summary, analysis, and audio.
  • A "PoemShip author" badge appears next to your name on the poem page.
  • If you remove a poem from the library, it leaves search, collections, Smart Search, and the apps, returning to "For members" mode: site members and anyone with the link can read it. We delete materials prepared for it within 30 days.

Editing and deleting

  • You can edit a poem at any time. If it is in the library, editing will remove it from the library until it is reviewed again. You can change the mood and keywords freely.
  • You can delete a poem at any time.
  • You can turn off new comment notifications on the poem page.
  • You can delete your account in Settings. Your poems and comments are deleted along with it.

Rights

You keep full copyright to your poems. Publishing is free and unpaid. You can publish your poems anywhere you like. The terms under which we display poems are in the Terms of Use.
