Lest the spirit of wonder be lost
Go to the beach and behold the infinity of the sands,
Go to the library and consult the card catalogue and
behold the magnificent variety of books and periodicals.
Go to the Botanical Gardens and stare at the palm
trees.
Go to the aquarium and see the fish.
Go to work and behold the infinite nature of your tra-
vail.
Go to a cemetery and behold old tombstones.
You can't fool me, you have never lost the spirit of
wonder though perhaps I had and have now regained it from
you.
You can raise the dead,
make yr walls crumble.
(Now! the towers give way,
tumble like the sky
runs before a storm)
You talk long enough,
youll join yr own song.
Sure you can raise the dead--
Dont hesitate,
but watch what youre making.
How it moves without you
I'm still breathing
after everything
Moving on
Is like finally being able to breathe
And dear God
Is the fresh air nice
and for once in my life
I decided I deserve to be happy
and you aren't going to weigh me down.
Although your roots are weak and small
And only visible to the left
Your grew strong proud and tall
With a heart so big so red
Who knows who the father is
The seed that made you grow
Sometimes you wish to see his face
The face you don't even know
Swiftly leaves and branches fall
Another life another year
But yet your still stand brave and tall
Like a tree with out a fear
There was a story of a little boy
His mother was never around
Had to raise himself, had to learn himself
No good, all bad.
He was strong but weak
Hurt and cold he never let anyone close.
He was used to being alone
But the day his mom tried, horribly,
to give him what he longed for
He turned around and walked away
To which his mom thought 'where did I go wrong'
Completely oblivious and close minded
He grew up to give his kids what he never had
And they gave him what he always wanted
love, hope, but most importantly a family.
i gather these fragments lying
on my palm, blowing a faint
wish into the gaps of the shining
glass, shattered but yet not broken;
i raise my prayer towards the
morning sun and chant a silent oath.
and as the boiling furnace melts and
burns the hardened shreds into
crystal goblets of fortified lava,
i tuck it close to my heart,
reforging them into something
only i can wield, something
i will be able to dedicate this treasure
to another vessel of my heaven,
to another hell i have yet to experience before.
A wolf wound up the twisted slope,
Its hide gleaming silver and eyes like to sun,
The farther it got the closer it seemed.
Upon reaching the top the beast stood still,
Clouds black as the night's fresh veil,
The mountain it climbed had looked taller before,
But the wolf lost foot as a piece did fall,
And it tumbled head over tail.
Battered and bruised but very much alive,
The peak of the mountain reached above the clouds,
And again the wolf climbed the beaten trail,
For this was all it knew.
The curtains
That cover those windows
Of yours
Won't protect you
From society
The only thing
That will
Is you
Why do people tell me
What I deserve
I know what I am worthy of
I remind myself
Constantly of
What I deserve
And what I don't
A room with no view,
is now what I’m used to.
If you don’t believe me,
look and I’ll show you.
Ten feet squared,
no john and no shower.
Someone knocked me,
from my golden tower.
I’m back on my feet now,
and fighting resistance.
Good thing that I’m full,
of endless persistence.
