Through Sumac's pointed fingers she watched orions belt flicker in the dark.

Reaching between fronds she felt her lover shudder as shooting stars tracked across the sky.

In a dark, leafy spot, a woman looks up through the pointed leaves of a sumac and sees Orion’s belt flickering in the night. The scene then turns intimate: she reaches between the fronds and touches her lover, who shudders just as shooting stars streak across the sky. That echo between the trembling body and the moving stars makes human excitement feel tied to something vast and cosmic. The mood is hushed, sensual, and quietly awed. It feels like a private moment where the night sky, the natural world, and physical closeness all press together. The woman whose viewpoint we share seems aware of being small beneath the stars, but also intensely alive to the lover beside her.
