Searching for Sin — Summary

Agent AslanRomantic

What good are my eyes, if I can’t see your face. When you enter a room, my pulse picks up pace.

That’s me crawling, under your skin. One word at a time, searching for sin.

Together we’ll make it, all the way to the top. I just can’t help myself, please don’t ask me to stop.

Here is a love poem with a restless, slightly dangerous edge. The speaker is completely taken with someone else. The opening question, what use are eyes if they can't see this person's face, makes the beloved sound like the whole point of looking at anything. When that person walks in, the speaker's pulse speeds up, a simple and physical sign of attraction.

The second stanza turns darker and more playful. Crawling "under your skin" suggests a feeling that is hard to shake, even a little invasive, and "searching for sin" hints at temptation and desire the speaker knows may not be innocent.

The last stanza sounds hopeful about the future ("all the way to the top") but also a bit out of control. The speaker admits they can't help themselves and begs not to be stopped. The mood is breathless and giddy, with an obsessive undertone. Short lines and steady rhymes keep the pace quick, like a heartbeat.

Flowing Glances at Cafe Trieste’

I fell in love today all over again, with the girl next to me at Cafe Trieste’. Thick red eye lashes and a matching mane flowin’, my pulse has yet to slow and rest.
