Blue Eyes — Summary

I once colour a white paper with just shades of blues. I then grew up with my favourite colour, blue. The sky is blue, The blue Butterfly Pea Flower is blue, And so does the tea. I then dream of a girl, Who had the most rarest shade of blue eyes. I wish she was here, Just because of her blue eyes. I hope that girl, Was real. I just wanted to be friends with her, Forever.

The speaker begins with a simple memory: colouring a whole page in shades of blue, and growing up with blue as a favourite colour. The first few lines list blue things that matter to them, like the sky, the butterfly pea flower and the tea made from it. These lines feel gentle and childlike, almost like a drawing put into words.

Then the poem shifts. The speaker dreams of a girl with the rarest shade of blue eyes, and the love of the colour turns into a longing for a person. The wish is quiet and sincere: "I hope that girl / Was real." The speaker doesn't want anything grand, only to be friends with her "Forever."

The mood is soft, wistful and a little lonely. The short lines and plain wording make the feeling seem honest, as if the speaker is saying it out loud to themselves.
