Fragile — Summary

Ch4y4xContemplative

Anxiety holds his claws around my neck Feeling my pulse to perfectly manipulate One move is all it takes

Happiness once stroke my back Growing older opens an ominous gate Life is a struggle at all stakes

Every one of us is fragile like glass Even the ones with 24/7 sass Lower, middle or upper class

Glass stays glass Some shatter, others burst In the end we all break

Ch4y4x's "Fragile" begins with a frightening image: anxiety personified as a creature with claws around the speaker's neck, feeling for a pulse and waiting for the right moment to strike. The speaker feels watched and controlled, as if one small move could tip everything over. Happiness, by contrast, is remembered as something gentle that is now in the past. Growing older seems to bring a threatening turn, and life becomes a struggle "at all stakes."

The second half widens out. The speaker stops talking about themselves and says everyone is fragile like glass, even confident people and people of every social class. The final stanza pushes the metaphor further: glass stays glass, but it can either shatter or burst, and either way it breaks. The mood is dark and resigned, though there is a strange comfort in it too. Suffering is not a personal failing here, just something all people share.

Give me forever for a while Give me happiness At least give me a smile And take away my bitterness

Never has anyone ever told me I was pretty So I can't help but smile when you do Never has anyone ever loved me this way So I don't wonder you're always here
