A wedding rehearsal is meant to be serious preparation, but this tiny poem catches it at a loose, playful moment. The wedding party, apparently bored or giddy, helps itself to the minister's white wine. The word "steal" makes it sound like a bunch of kids getting away with something, even though the people involved are presumably adults on the edge of a solemn ceremony.

The title, "Sacramental," adds a nice twist. Wine is part of many religious rituals, so the poem sets sacred wine against casual theft. The speaker doesn't scold anyone. The tone feels amused and observant, as if the speaker is quietly watching, maybe even enjoying the mischief. Nothing is spelled out, but the poem suggests that real togetherness might show up in these small, irreverent acts as much as in formal vows. The mood is light, warm, and a little cheeky, with a hint of the way ritual and ordinary life rub against each other.
