Dry Eyes

He used to make me cry with his meaningless words His uncaring postures and his unwavering stubbornness I don't cry anymore I haven't since I lost my heart But still my dry eyes ache with sorrow clenched shut He could be a god among men if only he cared But he doesn't see this world as I do, nor the people of it I have wished only the best for him, but my harsh tones and bitter words betray me He doesn't hear me anymore not for a while He is truly a gifted boy, soon a man no less I pray that he understands one day that I care more for him than I say He deserves better, we all do though This world isn't meant for those who love Nor is it made by them, but we stay forever more And our heart is lost all the while Until my strength withers and my body fails me I won't leave him to be alone I will find the way into his thoughts one day Then he will understand
