Rhythm of the Past
Sweet tones ring the air, A Noyade of memories. I prance and fly, to the tune I once knew. Days of old come back like arrows, Threatening the horizon. How I missed dancing like this, With a melody so nostalgic, I can't possibly fret. And I dance the night away, The wind's tune carrying me afar.
Surreal I ponder. Memories of my friend seem like a dream. I feel their not truly open, And yet, here you are. Where everybody else quit, I see you in my rosebush cage. Hacking away the locks. My eyes strain, looking for the mirage, Yet there is none. I sit and wait for you to leave. You keep working. I ponder, are you not trying to poke at me? I start hoping, like a bird who regrew his wings. To remember how to fly, after so long. I stretch out my hand, desperate for contact. You take my hand, and fly me back to reality, Reluctant, I keep my doors closed. Maybe someday, I can take the leap you did. Maybe, when I get used to you.
