Losing you — Summary

Empty, that's how i feel. These blank pages stare at me and beg to be filled What do i draw? What do i write? I got no passion in me I got no joy No hope Nothing but the abyss of your absence. When did it happen? Since when did i need someone to be who i am? Helping them, making them smile, living for them, it used to be natural for me. Now, it feels like a task; like its a burden to be me. Yet, it makes sense How can i spread happiness when i ain't got it inside me? Where did it get lost, i wonder? Maybe it's safe with you. Then, it's a lost cause for me. I'll never get you back. I'll never get me back.

Gwendolyne05's "Losing you" is about the hollow feeling that follows a loss, and about how that loss spills into the speaker's whole sense of self. The speaker sits in front of blank pages, unable to write or draw, and the emptiness of the page mirrors the emptiness inside. Passion, joy and hope are all gone, leaving only "the abyss of your absence."

What makes the poem sting is a quiet realisation: the speaker used to find it natural to help others and make them smile, but now even being themselves feels like a burden. The logic is painfully simple. You can't give away happiness you don't have. The idea that it might be "safe with you" suggests the other person took something essential along with them.

The mood is raw and bleak, and the plain, short lines make it feel like honest thinking out loud. The ending, "I'll never get you back. / I'll never get me back," ties the two losses together and leaves no hope of repair.
