On a cold January Thursday night, the speaker sits on a "throne" and calls herself "queen of my entire world." It sounds proud at first, as if she's in charge of her own life. But the poem turns on its last two lines. "And yet I'm here / Alone" undercuts the royal talk, and the word "Alone" sits by itself on the final line, which makes it hit harder.

The feeling here is a mix of pride and loneliness. Being queen of your own world can mean independence, but a queen with no one to share the kingdom with is isolated. The throne might be a joke, a way of making a quiet night at home feel grander, or it might be a brave face over real sadness. The poem doesn't say which.

The mood is quiet, a little wistful, and very still. The ordinary details, a weeknight in winter, make the loneliness feel familiar rather than dramatic.

I want to be there for you. I want to be the one you decide to trust. I want to be able to be the shoulder you cry on. I want to help.
