Pain — Summary

My best friend has come back to me yet again.

It is a sadness I get addicted to.

A thing such as a hobby can never compare.

It speaks to me out loud like a crow.

Out in the void of nothing, its always there.

It always finds you.

Especially when your lost.

My best friend is back again.

I look up and down and all I see is red.

It fades away, such as the screams.

Good thing your always with me.

Iao13's "Pain" treats pain as a companion who keeps returning, calling it "my best friend" at the start and again in the middle. The word choice is unsettling. Friendship usually suggests comfort, but here it describes something the speaker can't shake and has even grown dependent on: "a sadness I get addicted to." No hobby, the speaker says, could compare, which hints at how fully this feeling fills their life.

The imagery is stark. Pain speaks "like a crow," harsh and hard to ignore, and it waits in "the void of nothing," finding the speaker especially when they feel lost. The line about seeing "all I see is red" suggests anger, hurt, or overwhelm, while the fading screams may point to a brief, uneasy calm.

The mood is bleak and numb, with a bitter edge. The closing line, "Good thing your always with me," sounds ironic to me. It reads as both resignation and a kind of grim acceptance, as if the speaker has stopped fighting the one thing that never leaves.
