Words In the Dark

Lies, Judgments, Misunderstandings, Hateful speeches shouted on platforms. At the end of the day, These are just Words in the dark. Memories floating in the air, Like birds in the dark. Memories in the dark, Memories of what was said. And feelings Twisting into grudges And doubts. Feelings shapeshifting And now they're Thoughts in the dark. And then, the next morning In the light, We are reminded Of yesterday's faults And yesterday's downfalls And yesterday's words. Because they are not dead. And when we go to sleep, We dream of memories From yesterday And all the other days. Because words can live in the dark And they can control you And try to break you Or lead you to assumptions That the next day Will be just like this past one. And even after The others have gone Or you have been sent To that other place, Those words will still live In the day and the night, Not just in the dark.
