Krissi's short poem is about the overwhelming effect of meeting someone who matters deeply. The speaker warns "you" that when you meet Lucius, ordinary abilities will fail: you'll forget how to talk, and become "deaf / And blind." It sounds almost like a warning, but it reads more like awe. Meeting him is so intense that the senses shut down, as if there's room for nothing else.

The final two lines shift the poem. Instead of losing the senses, we get one of them back, taste, and it's used in a surprising way. He "will taste like the poetry / You wished you could write." That suggests the speaker sees him as something beautiful and out of reach, the kind of art you long to create but can't quite manage. The mood is breathless, intimate and a little dreamy. The speaker seems captivated, maybe even a bit envious, and the poem leaves the feeling of desire tied up with admiration.
