I sit here, typing, without a planBecause thoughts and feelings have been piling up inside the confines of my mind.Today, I listened to a woman speak about her child,Lost at 17 to the icy grips of death. One wrong move and her life was not spared.Later, I asked someone who knew her what she was like."Kid was a mess," she said. "Drugs just made it worse."I went home thinking how precarious life isAnd about how many things I would miss,Were I to die today.Being at the brink of submitting myself before,A new perspective is appreciated.I can look up at the sky and think about how I'll miss it,And not wonder if it's the last time I'll walk under it.I'd miss hearing people laugh.
I clawed myself apart tonight,As if from the inside out.Every mark I made upon myselfWas liberation from my demons. My heart shattered,My mind screamed,But there was nothing I could do.I could not save myself from my own hands,Could not save myself from my own thoughts,Could not save myself from my own demons. My demons...The invisible demons that hide inside my skullAnd only come out when I vulnerable. My weakness is myself. My cause of death is my own mind.My body is a danger to my soul.
Follow a shadow, it still flies you;Seem to fly it, it will pursue:So court a mistress, she denies you;Let her alone, she will court you.Say, are not women truly thenStyled but the shadows of us men?At morn and even shades are longest,At noon they are or short or none;So men at weakest, they are strongest,But grant us perfect, they're not known.Say, are not women truly thenStyled but the shadows of us men?
Blessed be Thou for all the joyMy soul has felt today!O let its memory stay with meAnd never pass away!I was alone, for those I lovedWere far away from me,The sun shone on the withered grass,The wind blew fresh and free. Was it the smile of early springThat made my bosom glow?'Twas sweet, but neither sun nor windCould raise my spirit so.Was it some feeling of delight,All vague and undefined? No, 'twas a rapture deep and strong,Expanding in the mind!
His bridle hung around the post. The sun and the leaves made spots come down;I looked close at him through the fence; The post was drab and he was brown. His nose was long and hard and still,And on his lip were specks like chalk. But once he opened up his eyes,And he began to talk.He didn't talk out with his mouth; He didn't talk with words or noise. The talk was there along his nose;It seemed and then it was.He said the day was hot and slow,And he said he didn't like the flies; They made him have to shake his skin,And they got drowned in his eyes.
