The River

Here is the river So cool, so fast Feet touch the sand and are covered by water Run across the log bridge and through the tall grass The bright green ?grass cuts your legs To show itchy red marks Looking into the water a huge branch To sit on that branch and let the water flow past your legs Feeling the current try to pull you away You jump in with such joy A sharp sudden ounce of pain Then nothingness, you feel your foot A huge cut presents itself to you You slowly get out, freaking out Limping over to the sandbar Your sister and friend yell, ask what's wrong They rush over the bramble like fauns The red blood drips down my heel and falls into the water It makes swirls of pain in the water Then is swept away by the current never to be seen again Now you limp around the house Knowing your adventure was for sure an adventure Feeling wrong, but right Feeling wonderful, but horrible Feeling adventurous, and devious
