Warm, Gentle Statue
In every town, there is a statue. They are usually of a man or women, Showing off their big accomplishment. They look and admire, But often not spoken. If they are around it, They say, “Oh hey, there you are.” And they continue talking About themselves. Only tour groups or neighbors visiting, Talk about the statue. They comment about their life and say why they helped them. Humans seem to always dome back to themselves, Even if someone else needs more. They enjoy the statues company, Fine with ‘em along. Just having it in the group Is pointless. All it gets for recognition, Is getting to be in the background for every picture. But the warm, gentle statue, With a warm, hopeful heart, Just waits. Waits, and waits. Waiting for someone to accept it’s beauty and pose. Someone who wants to be with them, When they’re not around. Someone who gives them, A reason to stay.
