Untitled 026 — Summary

I take a deep breath until both sides of my heart get numb Until it hurts a little I let out my breath even more Until I feel there is nothing left inside I think it is alright to run out of breath, no one will blame me I think it is okay to make mistakes sometimes, because anyone can do so Although it is comforting to say it is okay It is just words Someone's breathe, that heavy breathe How can I see through that? Though I can't understand it, it's okay to breath I will still hold you.

The poem begins with a physical act: the speaker breathes in until their chest goes numb, then breathes out until nothing seems left. It reads like someone testing their own limits, maybe trying to feel something, or trying to empty out. Then the thoughts turn gentler. It's alright to run out of breath, it's okay to make mistakes, no one will blame you. But the speaker quickly admits these reassurances are "just words." Comfort is easy to say and hard to believe.

The last lines shift outward. The speaker hears someone else's heavy breathing and wonders how to see through it, how to understand what that person is going through. They can't, and they say so honestly. Still, they land on a quiet promise: it's okay to breathe, and "I will still hold you." The mood is tired and fragile but tender. Understanding isn't required for care, and presence matters more than the right words.
