Difting Out
Tracing the jagged shore, The serrated outline of broken seam and bridges flamed, To the fragmented rock where, weary, I stayed. Grave in thought of the perjured past Of smiles faded, Severe color clouded by a genesis of truth Arresting the voyage of sleep to glower on what is wrecked. Down here sought some desperate act of escape Beneath the docks who, staked, Found themselves grounded against the oppressive tug of the sea And strengthless I drifted out on a surge of empty fancy.
