Across the Blue

Wither the days away when we would run through fields of green, and lie under the Ash trees. Dappled by the sun and the shadow, we lay spotting clouds. It was then - those days - that we so loved to waste away. then, like an omen sent to warn of your coming years, I saw a cross unusually dark and looming across the blue. It was like the one that hung over Oma and Opa's coffins before we sent them on their way. I never told you of the weighty symbol - never warned you - so why does the creeping thought of Your departure Always Shock me so?
