A Fire That Tears Cannot Quench

I knew the flames would come In the night they always do Engulfing the frozen vessel That my soul has moved into.

The ice is numbing Yet distant to the touch Unable to escape The fire's inevitable clutch.

The walls begin to crumble Yet the numb vessel remains Under the heats of the flames So distant. So unfazed.

Walls of a life long forgotten Everything I have ever made Succumbing to the flames Any single thing that made me happy Is now a shadow of the past Unable to grasp.

The heart pounds in its chamber Begging for release, to breathe But to no avail, no saving The circulating air will begin to seize.

A black fire That tears cannot extinguish But not warm enough to melt This frozen vessel in mental anguish.

The fire is now gone Everything is crumbling The ruins are becoming nothing To the ashes they are succumbing.

A life left behind Yet the vessel remains Lost in the ashes of yesterday So distant. So unfazed.
