He Loved Me.

He loves me. He says so every day. He loves me. He kissed her. He loves me. He says he didn’t mean it. He loves me. He didn’t come home tonight. He loves me. He came back in the morning intoxicated. He loves me. He punched me. He loves me. He’s yelling that I don’t deserve him. He loves me. I’m lying on the floor. He’s leaving. I’m crawling towards the phone. He’s gone. I’m talking to the police. “He loves me. He said so every day. He kissed her. He said he didn’t mean it. He didn’t come home last night. He came back this morning intoxicated. He punched me. He yelled. He’s gone.” They brought me in for questioning. I start to cry.

“ ... He loved me.”
