Love Letter: A Confession Gone Horribly Awry

There are some people who can’t stop falling in love They make blasphemous overuse of the phrase Perhaps they should be given a limit on the number of falls before they’re stuck Or a quota for time spent at the bottom Something Anything to stop that endless dance Up Down Up Down Up Down Enough to give the rest of us a headache I am not one of those people Nor am I one of those people who falls and stays Resting in the arms of a single fall No, that’s much too peaceful for the likes of me When I fall And quite often it is I stay Resting for long breaths at the bottom Gathering strength for the bound That bound some find so easy I suppose I am a weak lover Or perhaps simply a lazy one Or maybe I am not a committed enough partner Or just a fickle one I suppose I’m just not committed ENOUGH Or passionate ENOUGH Depending which is the ideal But really that’s besides the point The point is For better or worse For now or forever However and whenever you want me I’ve fallen for you I love you I think Maybe Perhaps I’m sorry Torrents of uncertainty silenced by a kiss And not the kind of kiss that reveals itself either The kind that leaves questions unanswered Scripts unfinished “Shhhh I’ve got you I’m not going anywhere” I love you? The question hovers Waiting And falls unanswered I sleep in his arms Sleep without nightmares And perhaps a dream
